Weare man suffers head injury in ATV rollover

A 40-year-old Weare resident, Timothy Hayes, sustained a head injury in an ATV rollover accident, which is being attributed to speed by local authorities.

An ATV rollover accident on Friday evening in Weare has left a man with a head injury.

The crash took place on Oak Ridge Road and resulted in the injury of Timothy Hayes of Weare​.

Weare Police, Fire, EMS, and a New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officer responded to the accident.

Upon arriving at 8:00 p.m., they found Hayes, 40, initially unconscious with head injuries. He was then transported to Concord Hospital by ambulance.

Conservation Officer Shawn MacFadzen reported that Hayes was also suffering from a laceration​.

The investigation revealed that the accident occurred while Hayes was attempting to turn on the ATV, causing it to roll over on Oak Ridge Road, a route not open to Off-Highway Recreational Vehicles (OHRV).

The Weare Police Department is leading the Driving While Intoxicated investigation, with speed and alcohol believed to be the primary contributing factors to the crash​.

In the aftermath of the accident, New Hampshire Fish and Game officials issued a reminder to riders to operate machines in accordance with manufacturers' specifications, to avoid operating on roads unless specifically allowed, to wear a helmet while riding, and to abstain from drinking and riding
